~My creation changed me and made me part of the work~

This is my fourth time at the Art Revolution Taipei. In my work, I try to capture the inner feelings, enthusiasm and thoughts of the characters, not just the characters themselves. Look carefully at the characters in the painting, and you will see a moment of expression and feeling, not just seeing a dancer. The dancers in the painting are the most professional dancers in the United States or in the UK. I hope that from these dancers, I can capture the specific emotions related to the theme of "Artists in and of themselves is art" in the 2018 Art Revolution Taipei.

I found that my creation changed me and made me part of the work~ Look carefully at this year's work, that is, "Me" ~ you will see a dancer staring at you in an attempt to capture your attention. In contrast, other dancers look elsewhere and do not want to get special attention. I think this is the meaning behind this year's theme, so I created this series with such a state of mind.

~ Photographs inspire me. My works include street graffiti and urban art~

I am studying art in Stuttgart. My work is inspired by crowds, and I particularly like to draw female. Like this painting, it is a recent work I created especially for Art Revolution Taipei – a crazy woman with many colors, like pink and yellow.

Photographs inspire me. My works include street graffiti and urban art. For Taiwan, "urban art" may be a new type of art that hasn’t been exposed to everyone. But in the past few years, street art or urban art has been an important artistic expression in Germany. Many artists have come to Germany to create street art. I am very happy to bring this kind of art to the Art Revolution Taipei this year.

~ My style is realism. I like to present nature fog in my artwork. ~

My painting style overall is realism. Most of the content is related to scenery. It may be the seaside or the forest, and I like to present nature fog in my artwork. For example, the two works I brought this time, one depicts the changes of the sky and the clouds, and the other is the feeling of fog in the forest and trees.

This is my first time participating in A.R.T. The committee really takes care of the artists from the accommodation to all aspects of the arrangement. The entire organization and the process are very smooth. I am very glad to be invited, and I am very happy to be here. Thank you very much!

~ Taiwan is a beautiful place. I really like it here. ~

I was born in Russia and have lived in five countries: Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, and finally settled in Cyprus. This is my first time in Taiwan. Taiwan is a beautiful place. I really like it here.

I am very happy to be able to exhibit here. My work is mostly abstract and with bright colors. Many people say that they feel the special skills in the painting. I do have found the specific skills of my own. I like to paint nature, flowers, and sometimes underwater worlds and plants. The organization of the whole exhibition is extremely flawless and 100% perfect. I hope that I can come here again next time.

(5) Kazuo Hasegawa

~ People in Taiwan are very kind and enthusiastic, and the food in Taiwan is also very delicious. ~

My creative idea is derived from my love for ancient architecture, and I use watercolor. The paintings on display this time adopt mostly the Shimizu District as a blueprint.

There were only two pieces from last year and were sold before the exhibition so they were not exhibited. I felt very lonely without my work as an artist, especially I made the trip all the way here to Taiwan. Therefore, even if the work has been sold, I still hope that the painting can be kept for display. If so, I will be very happy.

I have been to Taiwan many times. People in Taiwan are very kind. They are very enthusiastic to tell me whatever I ask them so I really like Taiwan. The food in Taiwan is also very delicious. I will come again next year.

(6) Afriani
1973,Indonesia
~ The inspiration for my painting comes from my life. ~

My theme usually comes from everyday life. This is a row of people looking at the wall. There may be many things happening behind the wall, such as war, politics, and disputes. But these people don't know what's going on behind the wall. They just follow. This is what I have experienced.

Art Revolution Taipei is very interesting. It is a very professional exhibition. I hope that the Art Revolution Taipei can be held every year. I hope that I will be able to participate next year and I wish it to be a complete success!

(7) Gude Srinivasa
1968,India
~ I am very interested in tribal culture and have visited many tribes in India~

This is my second time in Taipei to participate in A.R.T. This time my works are related to tribes, like pottery vendors and banana vendors. I am very interested in tribal culture. I have visited many tribes in India and observed many such scenes. I use gold and blue to present such a theme.

~If there were fish in that place, it means the water there is clean and suitable for people to live.~

I have participated in Art Revolution Taipei for seven years. This year, my theme is “fish.” The primary artwork is about goldfish. If there were fish in that place, it means the water is clean and suitable for people to live.

When I was a child, there was a small creek where I lived. There were a lot of fish in the creek. When I was young, I would go catch fish and felt very happy. After I grew up, I moved to the city. I realized earth was gradually being destroyed. Therefore, I would like to use this theme to bring attention addressing the importance of earth, where we all live, and not to let earth destroyed. I use my work to present the joyful movement of the fish and the poetic expression of life.

I added more figurative elements such as flowers. The flowers look like fish and fish looks like flowers, and then both are combined somewhat in the abstract style. My work is relatively bright in color. There is a healing effect, and it also reflects a desire for the future. I hope that the future will be better.

~Ocean accepts all rivers; space can contain all things.
When returning to nothingness, the source of creation wells out.~

My theme this year focuses on "nothingness" and "time.” I use the great enlightened one, the Buddha statue. I use hollow space to penetrate through space. Ocean accepts all rivers; space can contain all things. When returning to nothingness, the source of creation wells out.

Nowadays people have used their minds to think a lot, and set limitations within their minds. If they put down the attachments, they can return to nothingness. I use my work to express the penetration and nothingness. After penetrating through space, we then can be one with the space.

Like this Guanyin Bodhisattva, after the hollowing out, the Guanyin can be united with anything. Guanyin Bodhisattva has a purpose, which is to be united with all beings, and thus to reach oneness with all beings.

The “Parallel Universe” is still a matter based on human beings. This person is a little floating, meaning to be uplifted and to transcend. He is also hollow, blending with time and space, but leaping out of time and space. Holding a sword of wisdom in his hand is to break the attachments, cut off the limitations of mind and thoughts, and then return to nothingness, and return to the place where he is originally from.

~ The sun was very bright that afternoon when I was touched by the Taiwanese spirit for the first time.~

I am from Suzhou. This year, I brought 20 pieces of artwork, three of which are related to Taiwan.

When I went to Kenting in 2016, I met a group of very lively and lovely high school students who were playing some games. The sun was very bright that afternoon, and the students gave me a very warm feeling. I was touched by the young Taiwanese spirit for the first time and gave me the inspiration for these artwork. If an opportunity arises, I will create more artwork about Taiwan.

I feel that the exhibition this year is even better than before. Every detail was done meticulously. I have once again learned a lot. Art Director Lee Sun-Don again has exhibited different work from the past which I also enjoy very much. Thank you!
