World’s Foremost Platform with Artists at the Center, Asia’s New Iconic Art Fair

Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.) is the world’s first and foremost art fair that places artists front and center, a curatorial vision challenging conventional shows designed around galleries. With this artist-oriented innovative design, whereby every booth stands as the artist’s solo exhibition, A.R.T. has made several astonishing records. For its debut in 2011, the percentage of exhibiting artists having sale hit 89.66%, a record comparable to the world’s top art fair, the Art Basel. In the following year, the number reached 91.18%, with several artists, such as French highly-regarded artist Philippe Pasqua, having a complete sellout. The third year attracted more collectors to visit; some artists even sold all the exhibiting artworks right at the VIP Preview Night. The rate climbed to unprecedentedly high, 93.21%, in 2014. Last year, to break a customary practice prevalent in Asia—to set the price tag high in order for the buyer to cut it down—an “iron-price” policy was applied. This price policy was appreciated and supported by many art collectors, and as such the rate of artists with sale remained as high as 84.89%. Crafting a platform for artists around the world to engage dialogue with one another, the A.R.T. based in Taiwan has now become Asia’s iconic art fair.

Setting a Rigorous Selection Procedure, Building an Absolute Brand Name

Art is not just culture but also education, and therefore, it must not be confined to the quest for mere commercial gain. To restore the true spirit of art, A.R.T.’s art director Lee Sun-Don designs the entire art fair as a work of art, a colossal artwork comprised of every participating artist’s endeavor to develop the best of herself or himself and every show visitor’s appreciation of art. To ensure the supreme quality of this colossal artwork, Director Lee sets a high standard for screening artworks and takes charge of the entire selection process in person, selection made rigorously and professionally, leaving no room for lobby or interpersonal involvement.
With this insistence, A.R.T. has established itself as Asia’s representative art fair. It represents also an absolute brand name among collectors and art lovers alike.

Exhibiting “The Glory of Life” by 315 Artists from 47 Countries

To enrich the diversity of the art show, A.R.T. is dedicated to bringing in new and promising exhibitors every year. This year nearly 3,000 artworks that showcase assorted art forms and various local cultures are displayed. Here, 315 exhibiting artists from 47 countries illustrate the vicissitudes and momentums of life they have experienced and deeply felt, echoing A.R.T.’s exhibiting theme for 2016, “The Glory of Life.”

The entire exhibition comprises eleven sections, each with its characteristics:

This year’s Art Revolution Taipei also features a special thematic charity program: “Art Your Compassion,” which invites over 100 international and local celebrities to participate. All the proceeds will be donated to charity organizations.

In “Hundreds Of Celebrities’ Charity Sale,” each participating celebrity will create an artwork about the size 17.5 x 14 cm and priced at US$30. Each collector is allowed to collect two artworks at most. The name of the artist will be revealed to the collector only after they purchase the artist’s artwork.
